A Night Beneath the Stars
Joshua Tree National Park, California. A long exposure of a starry night in the Mojave Desert. A multiple exposure photograph made with the first 10-minute exposure taken early in the night by the light of a crescent moon, which illuminates the ground and the Joshua trees. The second exposure, taken after the moonset, captures the night sky and the perceived motion of the stars around the North Star over the course of five-and-a-half hours. The camera position does not change between the exposures.
