One of the other denizens of the Rocky Mountain Arsenal is this prairie dog. There were prairie dog towns scattered throughout the refuge, and I was pleasantly surprised at how active the residents were. They let me get pretty close, as long as I approached a step at a time, with about a minute wait in between each step. Every time I stepped closer, this one would duck into its burrow, and then get curious and stick it's head up a few seconds later, trusting in the security of its subterranean home.
