I arrived at Mount Rainier at 2AM after a long day of travel, and then woke up at 5AM to make it up to the Paradise area to capture the dawn light hitting the mountain from the East. Remarkably, I was alone at this spot for hours, and I didn't see another photographer come up this far until 7AM, after all the great light had gone away. When I told him what he had missed an hour earlier, he was quite jealous! So, all budding photographers: Getting up early is how you get the shot.
